Rosie O’Donnell Breaks Federal Law, Is Caught Trying to Bribe Republican Senators
Unhinged loudmouth “comedienne” Rosie O’Donnell was furious over the Republican tax bill that Donald Trump promised to pass when he ran for president, and late last night the U.S. Senate voted on and passed the bill. But O’Donnell thought she had a sure-fire way to convince several Republican Senators to vote against the bill and kill its chances of passing: she tried to bribe them. No, really!
The extremist, left-wing nut jumped to her Twitter feed to offer a $2 million bribe to Senators Susan Collins and Jeff Flake to get them to vote the tax reform plan down.
On Twitter, O’Donnell offered Collins $2 million in cash and helpfully added, “call if u want to negotiate.”
But even with the bribe, O’Donnell went on to personally attack the female Senator from Maine saying, “U have betrayed us all. Dear God. ask for forgiveness, redeem ur soul tomorrow.” Yes, O’Donnell write like an ill-educated teenager.
The shrill O’Donnell also went after Senator Jeff Flake of Arizona informing him that she already offered Sen. Collins the cash and now she was offering him the same amount.
O’Donnell said she would give them the cash, “If they vote NO, NO I WILL NOT KILL AMERICANS FOR THE SUOER RICH.” (She meany “super rich,” not suoer rich.” Unhinged AND can’t spell. It’s a nice two-fer.)
The former TV host encouraged the two senators to DM her and added, “no shit, 2 million cash each".
But, as Daily Wire pointed out, it is against federal law to offer bribes to U.S. senators to affect their votes.
Indeed, a violation of the law brings up to 15 years in jail if convicted.
Here is the relevant section of 18 USC §201(b):
Whoever–
(1)directly or indirectly, corruptly gives, offers or promises anything of value to any public official or person who has been selected to be a public official, or offers or promises any public official or any person who has been selected to be a public official to give anything of value to any other person or entity, with intent–
(A) to influence any official act; or
(B) to influence such public official or person who has been selected to be a public official to commit or aid in committing, or collude in, or allow, any fraud, or make opportunity for the commission of any fraud, on the United States; or
(C) to induce such public official or such person who has been selected to be a public official to do or omit to do any act in violation of the lawful duty of such official or person;
…shall be fined under this title or not more than three times the monetary equivalent of the thing of value, whichever is greater, or imprisoned for not more than fifteen years, or both, and may be disqualified from holding any office of honor, trust, or profit under the United States.
Despite O’Donnell’s spittle=specked tweets, the U.S. Senate passed Trump’s tax relief bill with a 51 to 48 vote (Arizona Sen. John McCain was not present to vote due to his ill health). The bill now goes back to the House of Representatives for a perfunctory final vote before going to President Trump’s desk for him to sign into law.
